Every barn has a story.
Flatland Farms tells Indiana's barn stories three ways: a statewide Barn of the Month, engraved prints, and a country song for every month of the year.
All different. All built with love.
Art and music are life. Farms sustain life.
Barns, art and songs carry Indiana families from one generation to the next. That's what we make, and it's all free to enjoy.
Indiana Barn of the Month
A free statewide contest. One barn a month, a Youth Barn Award, and Indiana Barn of the Year each August. The goal: a barn from all 92 counties.
How it works →Engraved prints
Thirty-six plates so far, each drawn for a song: barns, fields, families and the dog who watches over all of it.
See the plates →Flatland Farms songs
Three country albums, one song for each Barn of the Month theme, plus songs about family, work and home.
See the albums →Every barn has a story. Tell us yours.
One Indiana barn wins each month. Every entry is tagged to its county, and the goal is a barn on the map in all 92 counties. Is yours on it yet?
Enter
Send 1–3 photos of a barn on land your family owns or farms (or with the owner's OK), the county, the year built if you know it, and two or three sentences of its story. Free, no purchase.
Map it
Every entry goes on a statewide barn map by county. No street addresses, ever.
Judging
A small panel scores story 40%, character and condition 30%, photo 30%. A public People's Pick runs alongside.
The Barn Story
The winning barn gets a photo essay, a short video set to that month's Flatland Farms song, and a framed print.
Barn of the Year
The 12 monthly winners go to a public vote each August, with the judges breaking any tie.

You keep your photos. Entering never commits you to buy, sell or list anything.
Photo use. By entering, you keep ownership of your photos and story, and you give Flatland Farms and its family companies a permanent, worldwide, royalty-free, non-exclusive license to use, edit, share and make artwork from your entry in any media: the website, social media, videos such as Barn of the Month, framed prints, calendars, books and merchandise, given away or sold. We credit you where we can. You confirm the photos are yours (or you have the photographer's OK), the barn is on land your family owns or farms (or you have the owner's OK), and anyone shown agreed, with a parent or guardian agreeing for anyone under 18. We never post an address; maps show the county only.
Indiana residents; the barn must be in Indiana. Full official rules, including the photo license, will be posted here before entries open January 1, 2027. If Flatland Farms ever sells a print made from your barn, your family gets a free copy.
Know a barn that deserves it?
Tell us about it now and we'll email you the day entries open, with everything you need to send photos. January's theme is snow barns, so this winter is a good time to take pictures.
Youth entries: a parent or guardian fills this out. We show the youth's first name and county only, and youth details are used for the contest and nothing else.
The Barn Letter
One Indiana barn and its story, once a month. The month's song, the newest engraved plate, and the Barn of the Month winner once the contest starts.
No sales pitch. Short enough to read with coffee.
Part of every print goes home to the county.
Flatland Farms gives through the Flatland Holdings giving program. Part of every print sold goes to 4-H and FFA in the county where the barn stands, and the Youth Barn Award sends $50 a month to a young person's club or chapter.
We publish the amounts. Once print editions open, this page will list what went to each county, every quarter.
Flatland Farms is a business, not a charity, and we don't take donations here. If you'd like to give to rural youth and barn heritage yourself, give through a community foundation such as Legacy Foundation, Lake County's community foundation. We'll name the Flatland fund here when it opens.
